PRE-CONCEPTIVE CARE

Adding to your family is can be one of the most exciting times of your life, if all runs to plan. Diet and lifestyle can make a major impact to your and your partners fertility. If you have been trying to conceive for 6 months or more, or if you have suffered the sadness of miscarriage (or multiple miscarriages), we are able to do diagnostic tests, to see if there is something standing between you and a successful pregnancy.

If you have no history of fertility issues, then before you both get swept up in trying to conceive, it is important that both parents-to-be are in the best possible health, as your future child is directly affected by diet choices, drug (prescription and otherwise) and alcohol consumption and the stress and anxiety of both parents, well before conception.

Three months is the time it takes for the egg and sperm to get ready to meet and create a new human, so pre-conceptive care ideally has a minimum three month lead time - however it’s never too late to make some positive changes.

By making simple dietary and lifestyle modifications, along with some baseline functional testing, I am able to help you in many areas, including

  • Achieving optimum health of both Mum and Dad, in the months prior to conception

  • Overcoming some of the challenges of falling pregnant or maintaining a healthy pregnancy

  • Reducing the risk of Mum developing gestational diabetes
